January 25, 2010
The Washington Township Lions Club was fortunate to have Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard as a guest speaker at their January 25, 2010 regular meeting, hosted at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Mayor Ballard discussed the economic state of the city (positive compared to many in this economy,) infrastructure (specifically mass transit and water,) sustainability, and his vision for developing Indianapolis as not just a destination city, but also as a city to attract people seeking new jobs and lifestyle.

Additionally, Mayor Ballard held a Question and Answer session with members of the Washington Township Lions Club, students from the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and guests. Topics varied from mass transit and bike trail plans, zoning topics, and the budget. Mayor Ballard, his wife, and other guests ate dinner with those in attendance and Mayor Ballard swept the Colts Trivia Challenge presented by Jim Nutt, our Tail Twister (fellowship coordinator.)
While the Lions Club does not endorse specific political parties or candidates, we appreciate the time and attention that the administration has shown us. The President of the Washington Township Lions Club, Matt Osbun, expressed the appreciation of the club by presenting Mayor Ballard and his wife each with a Lion statuette. |
